Health Care Supply Chain Data Standards
Data standards provide a method to codify in valid, meaningful, comprehensive, and actionable ways, information captured in the course of doing business with all stakeholders within the health care supply chain. Health care supply chain data standards are documented agreements on the representation, format, definition, structuring, tagging, transmission, manipulation, use, and management of data used between trading partners in the health care supply chain. Data standards enable electronic reporting, data transfer protocols, or other information that facilitates and promotes widespread use.
Global Location Number (GLN)
A field-wide, standardized location identifier that replaces custom account and location numbers. The attributes defined for each GLN (e.g., name, address, class of trade, etc.) help users to ensure that each GLN is specific to one, very precise location within the world.
Global Trade Identification Number (GTIN)
Globally unique GS1 identification number used to identify trade items, which includes both products and services that are sold, delivered, and invoiced at any point in the supply chain.
Global Data Synchronization Network® (GDSN®)
A system and organization of interoperable, certified Data Pools that enable data synchronization per GS1 System standards.
United Nations Standard Products and Services Code® (UNSPSC®)
Open global coding system that classifies products and services.
