Description:

Supply chain is a catalyst for reducing costs, maintaining high quality care, and improving patient outcomes—all elements critical to the CQO Movement. Improving communication and collaboration across the health care field, and creating a leaner more efficient supply chain are driving forces that are now changing the environment for supply chain professionals across the country.

The supply chain ecosystem has contributed to the 25% waste in the health care system, according to a study by the National Academy of Medicine. Contributors to this waste are built into our processes because of product outdates, upgrades, and conversions; contract changes; physician preferences; and mergers and acquisitions. We can accept that reality while at the same time learning to incorporate spend reduction and cost recovery efforts as standard practice. Through technology, we can broaden communication across the health care community to become more efficient, free funds for other initiatives, and add greater value to health care.

Learning Objectives:
  • Understand the various contributors and the impact of waste on health care.
  • Recognize the importance of collaboration across the broader health care community to create a leaner, more efficient supply chain.
  • Identify the possibilities and limitations of various spend reduction and cost recovery options that directly affect cost of care.

Presenters:
  • Cori Hahn — VP of Sales & New Member Acquisition, H-Source
  • Samantha Hutchinson — Project Coordinator, UCHealth
