Description:

Health care systems are facing an uphill battle trying to reduce costs and improve the quality of care. Shared value between providers and suppliers brings patient care collaboration and brainstorming to the top of all discussions. Advocate Health Care developed a provider-supplier partnership that reduced re-admission rates and improved quality of care inside and outside of the hospitals. This webinar discusses elements of the collaborative research, the clinical economic baseline and outcome, as well as how the quality improvement program components lead to better care process.

The webinar continues with a review of Advocate’s pursuit of deeper supplier relationships to advance shared value. We also cover supplier segmentation and a key set of associated behavior expectations, along with specific examples of suppliers that fall into these segments, illustrating how partnership value and behaviors are being exhibited today in driving better CQO utility. Finally, we offer a vision of what a supplier-provider shared value scorecard might look like in the future, as well as key lessons learned thus far in advancing these relationships.

How this session relates to the Cost, Quality, and Outcomes (CQO) Movement: CQO effectiveness can be increased by advancing supplier partnership models aimed at deepening collaborative, strategic, or integrated relationships.

Learning Objectives:
  • Summarize how malnutrition management can impact clinical economic value.
  • Demonstrate how clinicians, supply chain management and suppliers can interact to create new opportunities for improvement.
  • Describe the importance of developing a supplier-provider operating model of collaboration.

Presenters:
  • Gretchen VanDerBosch — Clinical Nutrition Manager, Advocate Aurora Health Care
  • Thomas M. Lubotsky — Vice President Supply Chain, Allina Health
